Per Benjamin & Max Van de Sluis - ICEHOTEL: The Cycle of Nature
LIVE Design Demonstration/Presentation with Per Benjamin & Max Van de Sluis. Followed by Live Audience Q&A.
Icehotel is the first ever hotel build from ice, snow and snice.
Up in the north of Sweden ice is cut out from the frozen river to build the hotel.
The ice is then given back to nature in spring when it melts down into the river.
All materials used for the hotel are either natural or reused from year to year.
Impact on nature is minimal.
With this is mind, the cycle of life, sustainability and respect for our planet we created a floral art workshop there in the winter of 2022.
45 Participants from around the world gathered for 4 days of unique experience.
We used only snow, ice, water, and natural materials as technical help and solutions.
So this was indeed a 100% sustainable event with is advantages and challenges.
Those challenges we are faced with in our everyday work as designers.
How will we stop using, plastics, metal and all other artificial materials.
We are looking for a way into the future!

In her presentation, you'll meet Slow Flowers members across North America and learn how the Manifesto is infused into the branding of their studios, shops and farms -- from marketing to design hacks to sustainable offerings.
Your takeaway: When branding and business values communicate sustainability, consumers know who you are and what you stand for - and they want to do business with you.

LIVE Design Demonstration/Presentation with Leopoldo Gomez of Mexico. Followed by Live Audience Q&A.
Thinking forward with sustainability in mind, Leopoldo explores a range of possibilities with application of eco-conscious design concepts. Recognizing that innovation and mindfulness can steer benefit and guidance toward the cause of maintaining industry viability, focus is placed on environmentally sound techniques such as repurposing materials, and reusing lasting products. With intention and thoughtfulness at the forefront, art and nature inspires interior surroundings depicting the future of floristry.

Saturday, September 24th
We begin with a star-studded Day 1! A morning Workshop with Gregor Lersch for FULL REGISTRATION Attendees, followed by live presentations from Susan McLeary, Hitomi Gilliam, & our first two FREESIA Challenge winners, Felicia Kang & Lawrence Kwong. Throw in a Sustainability Summary Presentation from Mississippi State University and Day 1 is sure to be a packed day of content!

Sunday, September 25th
Day 2 continues with more amazing Live Presentations from featured speakers Debra Prinzing of Slow Flowers, Leopoldo Gomez, and special Life2 Presentation from Max Van de Sluis & Per Benjamin! Our Sunday lineup also includes 2 more presentations from FREESIA Challenge winners, as well as breakout sessions to interact and discuss important topics with fellow attendees.

Monday, September 26th
The inaugural FREESIA Virtual Summit ends with a special Day 3 lineup of speakers including Live Presentations from both Shane Connolly & Holly Chapple. We then end the weekend with a wrap-up Live Demo/Lecture with Gregor Lersch & Hitomi Gilliam! And don’t forget, with registration you will have LIFETIME ACCESS to ALL 3 Days of Programming!
